What Recourse Do I Have If A Retail Store Does Not Accept A Federal Passport As Sufficient I.d. ?

What recourse do I have if a retail store does not accept a FEDERAL Passport as sufficient i.d to use a credit card? Specifically STAPLES and Walgreens have both told me they “don’t recognize” what a passport is. My father is both a lawyer and a Business Professor and says you cannot discriminate the use of a passport as id. But the slackjaws reject my identification because they are “not sure what a passport is.” Isn’t there legal ground for a consumer that simply does not have a drivers licence?

    1. Calm down. “Slackjaws” don’t get paid much, but they sure don’t respond any quicker/better when called “slackjaws.”
    2. Your BEST recourse is to take your business elsewhere. That’s the true AMERICAN way. “Sue the bastards” is a plaque on a lawyer’s wall. Go somewhere else.
    3. If you MUST shop Walgreens/Staples, why don’t you e-mail the corporate office with your inquiry (don’t complain) and ask for “policy.”
Anger is NOT the way to go; how do you feel when it’s used against you? Peace.

You have no recourse. The merchant is not required to accept your credit card at all. If you don’t have a D.L., go get the equivalent state ID.
